What If of the Day: In her spare time, Disney animator Heidi Jo Gilbert put together a bunch of storyboards for a possible animated adaptation of Wicked in the hopes of convincing her employer and Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz to pursue the endeavor.

Some people have the best hobbies.

THIS WOULD BE AMAZING.

Part of Your World (Cover) - The Little Mermaid

So, upon my most recent listening of this song, it really sounds like a feminist song to me. It seems like a song about the constraints placed on women. Notice that the only important legged character in the film is a man. Yes, it is still a Disney animated movie where the girl wants the handsome (often white and successful) man, but I think this song is a feminist call. I might just be crazy.

(False, girls. Speak your mind.)

And that’s why Eric drove the boat into her gut (which was oddly phallic symbolism).

I believe Ursula symbolizes the women of the past, Ariel’s father symbolizes patriarchy, and Ariel is the hope of feminism, and someone who dreams of a better, freer future.

I wonder why so many girls think they’re overweight when they’re not. I wonder why so many girls grow up being uncomfortable with their body size. I wonder why…

Yeah, it’s sort of amazing, the thing I’ve most learned from following fuckbodyhate, is how narrow (no pun intended) the standard for womens’ bodies is. When you see things like this, it makes sense.
